Our Baby Lounge – Little Acorn 🌱

At Play Days Academy, our Younger Baby Lounge, Little Acorn, provides a safe, nurturing and homely environment where babies can feel secure, develop strong relationships with their carers and enjoy wonderful opportunities to explore, learn and grow.

We understand that every baby is unique, with their own personality, interests, routines and individual needs. Our experienced team takes the time to get to know each child and works closely with parents to ensure that their care reflects the routines and experiences they are familiar with at home.

🌿 Learning Through Exploration

Our babies are encouraged to explore the world around them through a wide range of age-appropriate sensory and exploratory experiences. These include:

• Treasure baskets and sensory exploration
• Heuristic and loose-parts play
• Messy play and creative experiences
• Sand and water play
• Cornflour and other tactile activities
• Music, movement and singing
• Exploring natural materials and textures

These experiences provide babies with opportunities to investigate, make choices, develop their senses and build confidence while learning through play.

❤️ A Home-from-Home Approach

Starting nursery is a big step for both babies and their families. We offer a personalised settling-in process and work closely with parents to make the transition from home to nursery as gentle and reassuring as possible.

We follow each child’s individual care plan and routines, taking into consideration their feeding, sleeping, comfort and personal needs. Our aim is to create a familiar and consistent experience where babies feel safe, loved and confident.

Each baby will have a dedicated Key Person who will develop a close and trusting relationship with them. This secure attachment helps babies feel confident to explore their environment while knowing that a familiar adult is there to support and comfort them.

😴 Sleep and Rest

We recognise that every baby has their own individual sleep pattern and needs. Our Little Acorn room includes bespoke wooden beds and sleep pods, creating a calm and comfortable environment for rest and sleep.

Our practitioners work closely with parents to understand each baby’s sleep routine and look for their individual tired signs, helping them to establish positive and consistent rest routines.

🍼 Individual Care and Daily Communication

We understand how important it is for parents to know how their baby has spent their day.

Every child joining Little Acorn receives a Daily Diary updates on our Parent admin app, providing parents with regular information about their child’s day, including:

• Activities and experiences
• Food and milk intake
• Nappy changes
• Sleep and rest times
• Important observations and updates

Our practitioners also make time to communicate with parents at drop-off and collection, helping to ensure that information is shared between home and nursery.

🌳 Exploring the Great Outdoors

Our babies have regular opportunities to enjoy our garden and explore the local environment through walks and outdoor experiences.

Outdoor play provides wonderful opportunities for babies to experience fresh air, natural sounds, textures, movement and seasonal changes. Whether they are exploring the garden, watching the world around them or discovering something new on a walk, our babies are encouraged to be curious and engage with their surroundings.

👶 Growing Together

As part of our family-style approach, our younger babies also have opportunities to spend time with older children when appropriate. This gives them the chance to develop relationships, observe others, build confidence and experience the warm, social atmosphere of a home-from-home environment.

📚 Supporting Your Baby’s Development

Everything we provide is carefully planned around each child’s stage of development and interests, following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Through play, exploration and responsive interactions, we support babies to develop across all areas of their learning, including communication and language, physical development, personal, social and emotional development, and their understanding of the world.

We celebrate every achievement, from a first smile and first steps to developing new friendships, discovering a new texture or becoming more independent.

Play Days Academy Ltd is a professionally maintained day nursery that follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and is registered with Ofsted. Our team members are appropriately qualified, DBS checked and recruited in accordance with our Safe Recruitment Policy.

Our nursery is Located in the Glen Parva area of Leicester, our nursery is suitable for those living or working in South Wigston, Enderby, Oadby, Narborough, Whetstone and South Leicester. No need to book an appointment to visit our Childcare Nursery we operate on an open door policy. Our Nursery is located next to Glen Parva Manor.
