Toddler Room
Our Toddler Room is a busy, active and welcoming environment for children aged 2–3 years. We provide a warm and nurturing space where children can explore, discover and investigate through a balance of child-led play, free-flow activities and carefully planned experiences.
We follow each child’s interests and individual needs, both indoors and outdoors, using their natural curiosity as a starting point for learning. Our experienced team observe the children as they play and use these observations to extend their learning and introduce new experiences.
Communication and Language
We provide lots of opportunities for toddlers to develop their speech, language and communication skills through everyday interactions, stories, songs, rhymes and activities.
Our children enjoy sessions such as ‘Fun Time’ and ‘Talking Tots’, as well as a wide range of activities throughout the day designed to encourage conversation, introduce new vocabulary and build confidence when communicating with others.
Learning Through Play
Play is at the heart of everything we do. Toddlers are encouraged to explore and learn at their own pace through a variety of experiences, including:
- Sensory and messy play
- Sand and water play
- Creative activities such as painting, drawing and modelling
- Music, singing and dancing
- Stories, rhymes and role play
- Puzzles and construction
- Mark-making and early mathematical experiences
- Physical activities to develop balance, coordination and confidence
Activities are planned around the children’s interests while supporting all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Growing Independence
Our toddlers are encouraged and supported to become increasingly independent as they develop new skills. We help children to build confidence with everyday routines such as washing their hands, feeding themselves, tidying away, putting on their coats and developing their toileting skills.
We recognise that every child develops at their own pace and provide gentle encouragement and support according to their individual needs.
Social and Emotional Development
The toddler years are an important time for developing relationships and learning about emotions. We support children as they learn to play alongside others, make friends, share, take turns and express their feelings.
Our practitioners provide a calm and reassuring environment where children feel secure, valued and confident to try new things.
Our Golden Rules
Our Golden Rules help children understand how we can be kind, respectful and considerate towards one another.
Rather than focusing on what children shouldn’t do, we encourage positive choices through simple language such as:

These reminders help children develop an understanding of how their actions affect others and support them in building positive relationships with their friends and the adults around them.
Outdoor Learning
Our toddlers have the opportunity to explore the garden every day, whatever the weather where appropriate. Outdoor play provides wonderful opportunities to develop physical skills, investigate nature and extend children’s learning through hands-on experiences.
We also enjoy walks in the local area, giving children the opportunity to explore our picturesque, semi-rural surroundings and discover the world around them.
Mealtimes, Rest and Routines
Mealtimes are an important part of the toddler day. Children are encouraged to develop their independence by feeding themselves, trying new foods and learning good hygiene habits.
We also recognise that toddlers have individual sleep and rest needs. Our daily routine is flexible and responsive to each child’s needs, helping them feel comfortable and settled throughout the day.
Working in Partnership with Parents
We value strong communication with parents and carers and believe that working together helps children thrive.
Daily communication between parents and our room team includes important information such as activities and experiences, food and drink intake, nappy changes or toileting, sleep and rest, and any other relevant updates from the day.
We also welcome information from parents about their child’s interests, routines, achievements and experiences at home so that we can build these into their learning and care at nursery.
Key Person Approach
Children form close and trusting relationships with their key person and the wider toddler team. Our practitioners get to know each child as an individual, including their personality, interests, routines, strengths and areas where they may need additional support.
These secure relationships help children to feel confident, happy and ready to explore their environment.

Through play, relationships and everyday experiences, we help children develop the communication, independence, social skills, confidence and curiosity that provide strong foundations for their continued learning and development.

Our nursery is Located in the Glen Parva area of Leicester, our nursery is suitable for those living or working in South Wigston, Enderby, Oadby, Narborough, Whetstone and South Leicester. No need to book an appointment to visit our Childcare Nursery we operate on an open door policy. Our Nursery is located next to Glen Parva Manor.
