Our Day Child Care Nursery team
At Play Days Academy in Leicester your child will be given the best child care and nursery education. Our staff are friendly, patient and enthusiastic about preparing your children for their transition to school. Each child is allotted a ‘special person’ who will monitor his or her interests and skills and develop short-term learning plans working together with the child’s parents. Special care is given for toddlers and small babies who require nappy changes, feeding or are yet to be potty trained.
Our staff are DBS checked and their background is extensively checked for suitability. We even collect personal declarations and employer references. All our staff have professionally recognised qualifications, are experts in managing nursery sessions and are great with children.
Our Day Nursery Open-door policy
We operate an open-door policy and parents are positively encouraged to come in and talk to the staff or merely to see how the nursery staff operates and plays with their children. Parents are always welcome. Nursery staff will provide a daily report to parents regarding the nursery day. This may be verbal or written. This daily report will state the number and length of naps, the amount of food eaten, number and details of nappy changes, activities to do at home and other essential information.
Parents are invited and encouraged to speak with their child’s key person at any time and appointments can be made, at your request, for time with your child’s key person to discuss your child’s progress or any other issues.
Parental involvement in Children’s Growth
At Play Days Academy we believe that parents are a child’s first educators. We will, therefore, consult and discuss with the parents regarding all aspects of their child’s development and general care and well-being.
We see our relationship with parents as a partnership and believe that we should work together to ensure your child receives the best possible start in life. We promote ‘Every child a talker = ECAT’ stepped approach to parental engagement and work actively to excel in our relationships with parents. Male and female parents are equally valued in our setting. For those experiencing relationship breakdowns, please see our Separated Families’ Policy.
Children & families speaking English as an additional language
Communication is supported throughout the nursery & parents are asked to share information relating to other languages spoken at home. Children feel safe & secure when they are able to communicate their needs; we use multilingual ‘board maker’ signs to offer visual prompts to children & adults who may have difficulties reading or speaking
