Our Day Child Care Nursery team

At Play Days Academy, Leicester, your child will be given the best nursery care & education. Our staff are friendly, empathetic and enthusiastic about preparing your children for their final transition to school. Each child is allotted a ‘special Key person’ who will monitor his or her interests and skills and develop short-term learning plans working together with families & care-givers

Our staff are DBS checked and their background is extensively checked for suitability, as per our safe Recruitment Policy & the revised EYFS 2026. All of our staff have professionally recognised qualifications, & are experts in providing holistic care & education. We work in partnership with external agencies to provide level 2, 3, 4 Early Years Educator  apprenticeships for our staff, in order to offer the best possible care for all of our children & their families.

Our Open-door policy

We operate an open-door policy and parents are positively encouraged to come in and talk to the staff, to see how the nursery operates. Parents are always welcome, to ensure we have a staff member to host your visit, lunchtimes visits between 11.45-1 pm may provide limited time to answer all of your questions fully, & we want to make sure you leave your visit with all your questions covered. Our invested staff team will provide a daily report to parents regarding their child’s nursery day, where possible we try to give verbal feedback to parents, however session end times are often busy & so we provide an on-line Care Diary, via our Nursery in a Box, parent admin  portal. This provides a two way communication tool allowing parents to update us on how their child has been at home. Our care diaries are updated daily for babies & toddlers; including key information such as, the number and length of naps, the amount of food eaten, number and details of nappy changes, activities to do at home and other essential information. In readiness for transition to school our older pre-school children are given brief verbal feedback of their nursery day. Including notification of key information; accidents, incidents, meals- including how much has been eaten.

Parents are invited and encouraged to speak with their child’s key person at any time and appointments can be made, at your request, for time with your child’s key person to discuss your child’s progress or any other issues. Regular parent catch up’s are scheduled across the nursery year, especially during transition times such as moving from room to room, & finally on to school.

Parental involvement in Children’s Growth

At Play Days Academy  we believe that parents are a child’s first educators, prior to starting nursery you will meet your child’s key person & together agree a personalised Care Plan, & agreed settling in visits to ensure the transition to nursery is as calm, & seamless as possible. . We will, consult and discuss with the parents regarding all aspects of their child’s development and general care and well-being during their time at Play Days

We see our relationship with parents as a partnership and believe that we should work together to ensure your child receives the best possible start in life. Communication & emotional regulation underpins all learning & both are a priority at Play Days. We implement a number of strategies to nurture learning including;  Every child a talker = ECAT’, ‘Emotion Coaching’, ‘Babbling Babies’, ‘Talking Tot’s, ‘Chatty Children’. We adopt a stepped approach to parental engagement and work actively to excel in our relationships with parents. Male and female parents are equally valued in our setting. A lovely fresh and bright new nursery set on the edge of the Leicestershire countryside. The children are stimulated and educated through play and the outdoors whatever the weather. It has a lovely "home from home" feel, with friendly staff who treasure your little one as much as you do.

I wasnt sure how my "clingy" 1 year old would adapt to nursery but now she waves us off and cant wait to go! Everyone is so understanding of all the children and have really bought my girl out of her shell. She loves mixing with other children now, Although she doesn't need to be in nursery i am so glad i decided to let her as she seems to be learning a lot more and becoming very talkative!
